The Right Piping Materials for Your Home's Specific Needs

Not every home calls for the same piping solution, and one of the most important decisions in a repiping project is selecting the material that best suits your home's age, layout, water quality, and long-term performance requirements.

SplashFix Plumbing’s repiping team works with:

  • Copper piping. Copper has been a trusted standard in residential plumbing for decades, and for good reason. It's exceptionally durable, naturally resistant to bacteria, tolerant of both high temperatures and high pressure, and has a proven long-term track record in a wide range of plumbing environments. Copper is particularly well-suited for main supply lines and applications where heat tolerance and longevity are the primary considerations. It's also fully recyclable, making it an environmentally responsible choice.
  • PEX piping. Cross-linked polyethylene, or PEX, has become one of the most widely used residential piping materials in modern plumbing, and for a good reason. It's flexible enough to navigate tight spaces and complex layouts without as many fittings as rigid pipe, resistant to scale and chlorine, and less vulnerable to freeze damage than copper or rigid plastics. PEX is an excellent choice for branch lines and interior distribution throughout the home, and its lower material and labor costs make it a practical option for large-scale repiping projects.
  • Hybrid copper and PEX systems. In many whole house repiping projects, the most effective approach combines both materials, using copper for main supply lines and high-heat applications while running PEX through the interior of the home for branch distribution. This hybrid approach leverages the strengths of each material where they're most advantageous, delivering a system that's both durable and cost-effective.

Whichever material or combination is right for your home, SplashFix Plumbing will explain the reasoning behind our recommendation clearly and complete the installation to the highest standards.

What to Expect from the Repiping Process

The idea of repiping an entire home can feel daunting, but in the hands of an experienced team, the process is far more manageable than most homeowners expect. SplashFix Plumbing begins every repiping project with a thorough assessment of your existing system, mapping the current pipe layout, identifying access points, and developing an installation plan that minimizes the need for wall openings and restoration work wherever possible. We communicate the full scope of the project, the expected timeline, and any access requirements before work begins, so there are no surprises once our team is on site.

In terms of water access, most whole-house repiping projects do require periods during which water supply to the home is temporarily shut off while sections of the new system are connected. Our team works efficiently and sequences the work strategically to keep those shutoff periods as short as possible, typically limiting significant interruptions to planned windows that we coordinate with you in advance. In many cases, partial water access can be maintained to portions of the home while other sections are being worked on. Once the new system is fully installed, we conduct pressure testing and a complete inspection before restoring your full water supply, so you can be confident the new pipes are performing exactly as they should from the moment we're done.
